France has agreed to extradite Noriega, former Panamanian dictator

French authorities have agreed to extradite former Panamanian strongman Manuel Noriega to his native Panama, his lawyer said Tuesday.
Yves Leberquier said France’s Prime Minister Francois Fillon signed the extradition on July 6 and that Mr. Noriega was notified last week.
It was not immediately clear when Mr. Noriega would be sent home.


A Panamanian official said his government has not been informed of a decision by France to extradite Noriega.

'Dukes of Hazzard' sheriff sues for royalties

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Sheriff Rosco P. Coltrane on "The Dukes of Hazzard" — also known as character actor James Best of Hickory, N.C. — filed suit this week seeking back payments from Time Warner for using his image on merchandise ranging from Christmas ornaments to trash cans.

A former police officer who allegedly admits ordering 1,500 killings during a campaign of terror as a drug gang chieftain along the U.S. border has been captured in northern Mexico, federal officials said Sunday.
