Doughty agrees to 8-year, $56M deal with Kings

The Los Angeles Kings and Drew Doughty have come to terms.The defenceman has agreed to an eight-year contract with the club, according to Sportsnet's Nick Kypreos.The deal is worth $56 million.

Magnitude 6.6 earthquake shakes Japan’s east coast

A magnitude-6.6 earthquake shook the east coast of Japan off Honshu early Saturday morning, the U.S. Geological Survey reported. No tsunami warning was issued, and no damage or casualties were immediately reported.

Sportsnet's Nick Kypreos has confirmed an earlier report that the Toronto Maple Leafs are close to signing defenceman Luke Schenn and could have the deal done as early as Friday.

If done, Schenn is expected to be at the first day of training camp.

Drafted by the Maple Leafs fifth overall in the 2008 draft, he finished the 2010-11 season with five goals, 17 assists in 82 games played.

IBM's Watson to offer medical advice to doctors

Goldman Sachs and two other firms have agreed to stop some of their more controversial mortgage-signing practices, New York officials said Thursday.
