Russia powered their way into this year’s Fed Cup final with a 5-0 whitewash of Italy in Moscow.
The hosts went into Sunday’s play leading 2-0 after Saturday’s singles matches, and quickly cemented their final berth when Vera Zvonareva beat Roberta Vinci 6-4 6-2.
That was enough to give the home fans plenty to cheer about, before Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova got the better of Sara Errani 7-6 (7/5) 7-6 (7/4).
