61-year-old a third of the way through marathon swim between Cuba and Florida

Marathon swimmer Diana Nyad was making good headway through the Florida Straits despite some physical complaints Monday, about one-third of the way into her attempt to log a record swim at the age of 61.
She is taking on an athletic challenge that she could not complete in her 20s. She plans to swim an estimated 60 hours in the churning sea, 166 kilometres across the Straits of Florida from Cuba to Key West.
